I ate at Jonathan Waxman’s Barbuto, it was delicious! Probably the BEST roast chicken I’ve ever had. There was a pasta dish that he created on Top Chef Masters, it was during a quickfire challenge. It was a pasta dish contained crab, mint, jalapeno and pasta water. To me, that sounded AMAZING!
I was trying to look for it on the menu - I found it, but it had shrimp instead of the crab. Whatever, just give it to me! Something about the simplicity of the dish just made my mouth water, still does to this day. I must say, the pasta dish was very tasty! Nothing makes me happier than a well cooked pasta dish.
Also, I had my first semifreddo there. I think I need more semifreddo in my life. Half cold desserts, it also had great textures of cookie, chocolate chips and ice cream.
After dinner, I saw Chef Waxman outside just talking to a couple of people. I totally got starstruck cause I’m a major dork like that. My cousin (who I dined with) encouraged me to talk to say something to him, but what do I say? “Hey man, I love your food.” I’m sure he gets that a lot. He seemed like a pretty chill guy, I did want to go up to him and give him a hug. But I’m sure that will creep him out, but I will be memorable….and a crazy person.
Instead, I just stared for a bit and walked the opposite direction…..like a crazy person.
